The importance of facilities and equipment is tremendous in terms of research infrastructure which is the foundation for the development of science and technology while price or scale of facilities and equipment is also getting rapidly increased. Korea with the late R&D investment compared to the developed countries overseas are concentrated on expanding the research facilities and equipment to be anticipating more input of budget in the future accordingly.

Therefore, we're in desperate need of preparing a system to determine the objective similarity of same or similar facilities and equipment to prevent setting up overlapping equipment as an important decision criteria for the deliberation of research facility and equipment budget.

Accordingly, we intend to establish a system to evaluate the similarity of research facilities and equipment through this report to present a method to index the similarity through a similarity evaluation among research facilities and equipment.
