In December 2010, NFEC made standard classification system of research facilities and equipment for the first time in Korea. However, research facilities and equipment which could not be classified by existing classification system increased due to rapid development of technology. This decreased the effectiveness of research facilities and equipment management and use as national statistics. Therefore, a need for revision arose in order to increase the effectiveness and use of existing system through revision and supplementation.

“MANUAL 22 of National Research Facilities and Equipment Standard Classification System(Revised) included newly developed research facilities and equipment in the standard classification system by supplementing the limitation of existing system. With revised system, more efficient operation & management of previously unclassified fusion equipment and new advanced equipment is expected.
