This report briefly reviews the history, duties, and activities of the Association and introduces its 80 research institutes, 7 branch offices, and 4 sub-branch offices scattered across Germany. It is published to introduce the Max-Planck Association, which continues to accomplish great achievements in unique and innovative pure basic science and secures independence through an autonomous and distributed network research organization.
