This report covers various, big science-related cases from the Manhattan Project, known as the beginning of big science, to the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC). Through a thorough analysis on the projects under the large research facility roadmaps in major advanced countries, they are divided into 10 categories (space, astronomy, meteorology, marine, the pole, life, nuclear energy, nuclear fusion, accelerator and computing). Then, major big science research facilities are explained using examples and cases. This report is published to give help in creating priorities based on expert opinion after conducting core studies in consideration of national security and common interest or referring to primary research fields.
